Established in 1987 in Johannesburg – South Africa, Lintec Engineering has long been providing wear solutions for bulk materials handling.
The founder, Eric Olsen, has been involved with wear-resistant materials such as ceramics, carbides and hard metals since 1969. He was responsible for the first alumina ceramic lined pipes in England, Australia and South Africa. It was with this knowledge that Lintec Engineering was formed.
In the early years, Lintec largely supplied Eskom’s Coal Fired Power Stations and Arcelor Mittal (then known as Iscor). The company has since grown its customer base to include the likes of BHP Billiton, Implats, Optimum, De Beers, Anglo, Sasol and Xstrata, as well as many OEMs, consultants and project houses.
With this growth the need for a branch in Witbank, Mpumalanga arose and in 2004 Lintec opened its Witbank branch.
Lintec’s philosophy has always been to maintain mutually beneficial relationships with supplier and customer. Lintec remains ethical in its approach to business and honesty is principal.
Lintec, grown from very humble beginnings, is now a major role player within the wear resistant industry.
Per South African regulations Lintec annually obtains a BBBEE (Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment) certificate. This is measured on various factors of the company. Customers within South Africa will be given a copy of this.
Lintec Engineering is a registered contractor with the CIDB (Construction Industries Development Board). This is a requirement from Eskom, however any customers wanting proof of registration are welcome.
Lintec will also provide tax clearance certificate, letter of good standing and ISO certificate to customers.
Lintec Engineering is ISO 9001:2008 compliant. Systems and procedures in place are monitored and maintained to uphold operational efficiency and quality.
Suppliers, sourced worldwide, are a major contributor to Lintec’s success. Lintec regularly visits suppliers’ plants checking quality control systems, operations and maintaining relationships.
Lintec Engineering is constantly seeking to improve service to clients, thus continually reassessing itself by re-evaluating its own procedures and testing.
One of Lintec’s objectives is to employ and develop staff with appropriate skills and expertise. Lintec prioritises skills development and training; consequently many employees have advanced within the company.
Knowing, people are the most valuable resource, Lintec prides itself on being a fair and equal rights employer. Accordingly, Lintec enjoys a low staff turnover. Lintec has a staff compliment of around 75 employees.
Lintec Johannesburg works, situated in Factoria, measures 1 500m2. This area is made up of fabrication and lining workshops, offices and warehousing facilities. The Johannesburg works is Lintec’s head office and main workshop.
Lintec Witbank works, situated in Die Heuwel Industrial Park, measures 1 016m2. This branch consists of a lining workshop, offices and store facilities. It is also the base for site crews servicing the Mpumalanga mines and power stations.
Lintec owns an extensive fleet vehicles, these include trucks, bakkies (pick-ups), people carriers and vans. Some of which are 4 x 4 to handle rough mine terrain. All mine vehicles are fitted with the necessary mine protocol.
Lifting capacity at Lintec is 7.5 tonnes, by means of the telescopic handler. For smaller items the usual forklifts are used.
Grit blasting is done in-house as well as drilling, cutting and grinding. The necessary machinery to achieve this is all owned by Lintec Engineering.
Boiler making and welding is also an in-house capability, with various welding machines, including diesel welders.
